Why Washington, D.C. Is the Perfect City for Career Exploration

Explore your future career before going to college

Students walking to US Congress

High school students are constantly asked what they want to be when they grow up—but how can they decide without truly understanding what their options are? That’s why Mapping Up designed the Career Exploration Program in Washington, D.C.—a program where students don’t just imagine their future, they experience it.

Why Washington, D.C.?

Choosing a career shouldn't be a guessing game. In Washington, D.C., students gain access to a variety of industries including government, law, tech, healthcare, international relations, media, and more. This city offers an unmatched opportunity for real-world exposure to high-impact sectors.

Real Experiences. Real Clarity.

Throughout the program, students visit top organizations, engage with inspiring professionals, and participate in hands-on activities designed to give them a taste of multiple career paths. Whether it's meeting an entrepreneur at a startup incubator or learning about public policy at Capitol Hill, every moment counts.

Confidence to Decide

By the end of the week, students leave not only with new friendships and unforgettable memories—they leave with a clearer understanding of their strengths, interests, and what they want for their future. That clarity can save them years of uncertainty.
